Suphawit Hat Trick, Thai Futsal Opens with 8-0 Defeat of New Zealand. The Continental Futsal Championship Thailand 2024 “Warm Up Before the World Futsal Championship” opened its first day on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Nonthaburi Provincial Stadium (Wat Bot Don Phrom), which is a preparation event before the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2024 in Uzbekistan.
The Thai national team, ranked 9th in the world and the runner-up of the latest Asian championship, under the management of Miguel Rodrigo, sent the first 5 players, consisting of goalkeeper Kathawut Hankampa, defender Jirawat Sonwichian (team captain), wingers Alongkorn Chanporn, Kritsada Wongkaew, and striker Suphawit Theunklang.
New Zealand, ranked 19th in the world, representing Oceania and going to play in the 2024 Futsal World Cup, coach Marvin Erkins sent the first 5 players: goalkeeper Mikhail Antamanov, Adam Plzen, Logan Wisniewski, Lan Manickam, Jordan Dittfort.
The first half started with 2 minutes to go and Thailand took a quick lead. Kritsada Wongkaew kicked the ball to Suphawit Theunklang who took a powerful right-footed shot in front of the penalty area, sending the ball into the net.
Then in the 8th minute, Thailand led 2-0. Kathawut Hankampa threw a long ball to Kritsana Aransanlak who broke away and shot a beautiful shot into the goal from a tight angle.
The game reached the 18th minute, Thailand was leading 3-0. Ronachai Jungwongsuk passed the ball to Muhammad Usman Musa, who controlled the ball onto his left foot. Before shooting a sharp shot into the net from a tight angle.
19th minute, Thailand made it 4-0 when Apiwat Chaemcharoen passed the ball to Muhammad Usman Musa in the penalty area before “Jao Med” lofted the ball into the goal in a superb manner.
Before the 20th minute, Thailand led 5-0. Panas Kittiphanuwong kicked the ball to Itticha Prapapan who shot without catching it with his right foot. The ball ricocheted off a New Zealand player and changed direction into the goal. The first half ended with this score.
In the second half, at 28 minutes, Thailand scored the 6th goal. Apiwat Chaemcharoen kicked the ball to Alongkorn Chanporn, who shot with his left foot without catching it. Sending the ball under the crossbar and into the goal.
Then in the 38th minute, Thailand scored the 7-0 lead from the second penalty kick by Suphawit Theunklang.
Finally, at the 39th minute, Suphawit Theunklang completed his hat-trick. When he deflected the ball from Alongkorn Chanporn’s shot and sent the ball into the net. The ยูฟ่าเบท game ended with the Thai national team crushing New Zealand 8-0, collecting the first 3 points as planned.
After the game, “Big Tin” Sutin Buatum, the manager of the Thai futsal team, revealed that “The players put in a lot of effort to create happiness for all Thai people in this game. Everyone fought with the spirit of being Thai and I am very satisfied with today’s victory.”
In the other match, Guatemala defeated Kuwait 3-2, with goals from Santizo Rodriguez in the 8th minute, Alvarado Gonzalez in the 15th minute, and Sandro Valpado in the 24th minute, while Kuwait’s goals were from Sale Alfadel in the 20th minute and Salman Albagian in the 40th minute.
